World Blood Donor Day observed in Srinagar | KNO

SRINAGAR, JUNE 14 (KNO) : The Regional Red Cross Branch Kashmir today organized a programme to celebrate the World Blood Donor Day being celebrated across the world today under the theme 'Be there for someone else. Give blood. Share life.' The programme was held at GGHSS Kothi Bagh Srinagar here.

Additional Commissioner Kashmir AS Mir and Regional Red Cross Secretary MR Mattoo was present on the occasion and a large number of students and staff from GGHSS Kothi Bagh and SPHSS MA Road participated in the programme. One Shabir Hussain Khan was gifted a bicycle as a token of appreciation and encouragement for being a generous donor having donated a total of 160 points of blood over his life span so far. Pertinently, every year, on June 14, countries around the world celebrate the World Blood Donor Day.

The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank blood donors for their voluntary, life-saving gifts of blood.
